EMS Today

EMS Today—is known as the JEMS Journal of Emergency Medical Services–JEMS.com. EMS Today is produced by JEMS, the leader in EMS education for over 35 years. A.J. Heightman is the Chair and Editor in Chief. Their latest JEMS Conference & Exposition was held in National Harbor, Maryland. Heightman seeks out relevant, up-to-date, cutting-edge EMS education for professionals world-wide.

In 2019, EMS TODAY broke new ground by inviting Pet Tech™ Senior Executive, Lisa Faust to teach Pet First Aid for the EMS Provider.  It is a presentation which includes CPR techniques, first aid skills, health care and wellness information for dogs and cats. The session that A.J. Heightman invited Faust to present stands out as a first-of-its kind in EMS professional industry.

“Our first responders train extensively to make sure we can save people’s lives in an emergency,” said Faust. “This training ensures Our Locals; Our EMS Providers can do the same for our 4-legged family members when their life is in danger. I am so proud to be training for them, the 4-leggeds too.”

“Pet First Aid for EMS providers is designed for EMS professionals outside of a veterinary hospital setting.  Administering O2 to an injured dog or cat increases their chance of survival and may reduce the severity of hypoxic shock, trauma and recovery. Numerous municipalities have added the oxygen masks to their squads and several states have passed laws to allow EMS providers to offer aid in an emergency to animals. The course gives you the tools to provide emergency life-saving care to animals in need.”

EMS Today offers: networking with 4,500+ EMS professionals from around the world, countless hands-on experience opportunities and the most innovative products and services available to the industry. The event is attended by EMS pros, health care providers and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). EMT’s are clinicians trained to respond quickly to emergencies regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries and accident scenes.
